WITNESSES CAN STOP REPORTING FIELD SERVICE!
by The Searcher inthe lawyers acting on behalf of the wtbts/g.b./'mother' during a paedophile case a couple of years ago, have stated on record that - .
a) "field ministry is not controlled or monitored by the elders, the congregation, or watchtower".
b) "an individual publisher's field ministry activity, including the time and manner it is carried out, is a personal matter between the publisher and his god.".

Animal sacrifices! This weeks bible reading
by stuckinarut2 inof what relevance is a written biblical record about how animals were killed, dissected, burned, etc?.
why splash blood on the ears of a priest etc?.
why oh why does the god of exodus like having animals killed, just so he can have some smoke smell rise to heaven?.

So my wife and I (this was a couple years ago) were watching one of the Michael Palin travel shows and wherever he was, the people do an animal sacrifice. They didn't show everything explicitly, but you do certainly get the point: it is a particulaly brutal act.
My wife recoiled in horror. How awful!
But, I said, How often were sacrifices made in EXACTLY THAT SAME MANNER to Jehovah by the Israelites? A loving god really wants that?!

What proof do we have that Moses was a real person???
by jam ini personally believe moses was largely or entirely mythical.
is because much of his biography, if not most of it, is tied to events.
that never happened, meaning that a historical moses could not .

First Post - Emotionally Torn
by scaredtospeak ini haven't been on here long but i found this site a couple days ago and quickly realised it had a lot of posts by people going through similar experiences as me.
i read some of the answers and it helped relieve some inner anguish i've been carrying since everything i came clean to my parents about everything i've been reading about.. .
i just have been going through a rough patch right now; that might be an under or overstatement depending on your own personal experiences with this kind of stuff.

SPECTRE - was it "the Power of Myth" with Bill Moyers?
I remember watching that as an indoctrinated teen and thinking, Hmmmmmm. . . . . . . ..

Just ordered this
by dynamiterose77 ini just ordered this book.
(ok... it's not linking, it's called "i'm perfect, you're doomed: tales from a jehovah's witness upbringing" by kyria abrahams).
i came across it when trying to explain to a coworker about the end of the world images that would be in watchtowers when i was growing up and why they gave me horrible nightmares.

I have heard of this book and, in fact, my local library has it!
Will have to check it out this summer.
Looks interesting.
Happy reading,
BOC

Welcome! An amazing story.
Be glad you've figured this out while you're young and have the rest of your life before you. A LOT of folks on this board spent half their lives trying to put a finger on what seemed "not quite right" with the religion they were raised in.
I had the same feelings of guilt and betrayal, but they will pass when you realize you've been manipulated by this cult - and by extension, your parents - to feel that way. No better way to control people (fear works pretty well too).
Don't give up! And go to college!

Had an argument with my wife about tinkerbell :(
by BU2B inone of my co workers mother made my 4 year old a blanket with the disney character tinkerbell on it.
as soon as i got it i knew trouble lay ahead.
i wanted to reason with her before my daughter saw it so as not to cause a disruption, but it didn't work out that way.

I think she got more than a little embarrassed when I told her I was taking it back to my co worker and telling her what she said about it
If she's so confident about where she "draws the line," your doing this should not be a problem. . . . Unless she's EMBARASSED (which she has good reason to be).

What is the biggest regret or source of resentment because of being a Jehovahs Witness?
by stuckinarut2 ini'm sure we could all write long paragraphs about this question, but in a few words, what is your biggest regret, or frustration in life due to being a witness?.
what missed opportunities did it cost you?
